Introduction by Sir Theodore Cook. With 16 Illustrations in color,( 8 of the color plates from paintings by Henry Alkin,) and 75 in black and white, and a map. Includes index. Osbaldeston [1786-1866] worked at his "reminiscences" from 1856 through 1862, when he gave the manuscript to his step-son. Called "the best Sportsman of any age or Country" decades after his death, Osbaldeston was the larger-than-life exemplar of the Regency Buck, the Nonpareil and the Out-and-Outer. From the library of James Blackstone Taylor, "America's premier test pilot," with his book plate on the front pastedown. Taylor flew the first flight of the Navy's first monoplane in 1918 and was one of the first to fly scout planes from platforms built over the gun turrets of battleships. He also was one of the first pilots to test new types of landing and launching gear on the Navy's first aircraft carrier, the USS Langley. Taylor "tested more planes, prevented more deaths and air disasters than any man who ever walked this earth." Harry Bruno - Wings Over America. He died in 1942 while testing a new flap system on an XF4F-6 for the Navy. Tan cloth covers have light over-all soiling. The paper used in this edition is subject to foxing, but it is confined for the most part to the pastedowns and pages facing the plates. A few pages un-cut. A surprisingly readable text in an attractive binding.

Trudeau, Edward Livingston M.D An Autobiography Description: 322 pp. Trudeau was founder of Saranac and a pioneer in the open-air treatment of tuberculosis. What was called Saranac consisted of the Adirondack Cottage Sanitorium and the Saranac Laboratory for the Study of Tuberculosis. Trudeau was an avid outdoorsman and wrote of hunting trips with friends and patients, including Robert Louis Stevenson. Original green cloth covers, title gilt, top edges gilt. Scarce in dustjacket, this cream-colored jacket has book description printed on front panel, with chipped top and bottom edges and usual soil for its age.

Slipcase with paper label on front has a few faint stains, and the green paper covering has uniform but slight fading on front panel. Portfolio is fine, in a very good slipcase.
