Lawrence was unhappy with the portrait of his brother T.E. being painted in books and on stage and planned this book to set the record straight. The letters in this collection taken as a whole were meant to reflect the brother A.W. knew. Letter writers selected include John Buchan, Winston Churchill, Noel Coward, E. M. Forster, Augustus John, Kipling, Ezra Pound, Shaw, and H. G. Wells, among others. Dustjacket spine sunned, price-intact; four corners clipped, probably as issued.
